Welcome to Evan

He was late, but Evan became grandchild number 1 at 00:32 this morning. It was supposed to be a home birth, but 24 hours of labour made so little progress that a hospital transfer was deemed necessary. Six hours later, at the cost of 1,500 ml of blood and huge tearing, Evan burst into the world. Mother was then rushed into surgery for repairs. She is sore and very tired, but was happily nursing the baby this morning. Evan weighed 9 pounds and was 20 inches long—apparently this stuff has not gone metric. We’re all a bit shell-shocked, but very happy.
