Wed, 30 Jun 2004How to get from FreeBSD to Microsoft in one stepI was just at Amazon looking at the advance notice for the latest in the long-running series on the design and implementation of BSD, The Design and Implementation of the FreeBSD Operating System by Kirk McKusick and George Neville-Neil. On the lower part of the screen, there’s a standard Amazon heading: Customers interested in this title may also be interested in … and the very first item under that is:
Of course, on the Amazon page, there’s actually a link to the Microsoft site in the Operating System header, but I see no reason to make it one here. I always have problems actually sending money to Amazon—I have problems with their spamming me. But this comes close to an argument to stay away altogether. If I’m looking at books on a particular topic, I really don’t want to be targeted by bloody Microsoft’s bullshit propaganda.
